Ive noticed that, with the same speed stat, some stances are simply faster than others. What are the fastest stances? Strongest? Is there a perception difference?

I have beaten the game twice now with maxed prudence and prudence alterations. I selected all of the prudent options and still I don't get any achievement

I want to like this game, but I am very displeased with how inconsistent defence is with how important it is; If I attack first, I'm not fast enough to interrupt, so I'm left with trading damage; this sucks and obviously is to be avoided. If I wait, and respond to their attack, parry/dodge to wear them down, then attack while they're exhausted, it seems to be the most successful route; the issue is that my defence methods are randomly failing against the same enemy with no explanation as to why or as to my...
